Have you seen the Fort at Fort Cochin? Have you tasted the Jalebis at a genuine Gujarati sweet shop? Or went riding a cycle through the narrow streets of the old quarter of Fort Kochi? Join us for a half-day expedition to Fort Cochin on cycles and on foot to experience this unique cultural hub of India. This then is your opportunity to cycle with our young & knowledgeable guides through the narrow ‘gullies’ of Fort Cochin to discover the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
Our route covers the Dhobi Khana - a public laundry, the unique salt temple, a stop at Kalvathy Juma Masjid a 14th century mosque, the Jain temple, Koonan Kurish (Holy Cross) church and Jew street. You will be visiting the Ginger drying area, Shantilal Mithaiwala’s Gujrati shop of sweets, get a peep into a fish feeding ceremony and also a chance to try your luck at pulling Chinese fishing nets, symbolising all that is special to Fort Cochin. We have also planned a special refreshment break en-route with an authentic ginger chai and traditional Indian snacks. You will also get an opportunity to walk and explore the spice markets, stop by at the fishing harbour and be amazed by the charming colonial buildings.
